In 1986, the Rorick brothers - J.B., Scott, and Tim - purchased Renew Valve & Machine Company and have propelled the company into its current leadership position in the industry. In 2004, they joined forces with Doug "Giff" Gifford and took control of Cleveland Valve & Gauge Co. of Ohio - the company where Giff began his career in valve repair more than 20 years prior. The combined companies operate as divisions of the holding company Phoenix Partners, L.L.C.
Founded near Monroe, Michigan by Oscar "Dale" Blair around 1960, the original Renew Valve began repairing valves for Detroit Edison at the two local power plants - Monroe & Fermi - that were in their start-up years. Over the next 20 years, it became a valuable supplier to the entire Detroit Edison system, both in machining and valve repair, and new valve replacements. It built up a complete machine shop and testing facility which manufactured parts when needed for the valves, pumps, and boilers for the growing number of customers in the Detroit area.
The exact location of the original company has been lost over time, but RENEW settled into downtown Carleton, MI., located just north of the city of Monroe. The Blair family remained in control of the company until early 1986 - when Dale Blair chose J.B. Rorick to succeed him; to build the company to its rightful place in the valve repair industry. Focusing on quality and customer service .
With J.B. Rorick as President, Tim Rorick as General Manager, and Scott Rorick as Account Manager; it has become the recognized authority on all types of gate, globe, ball, check, plug and control valves in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. It was a founding member of the National Board "VR" Safety Relief Valve repair certification program as well as an early constructive Green Tag Service Center for Dresser Industries and their Consolidated, Dewrance, and Hancock valve product lines.
